The United States has imposed restrictions on Chinese students for the protest of Hong Kong national security law. In response, China has threatened to retaliate against Washington.
US President Donald Trump said the United States would ban some Chinese students and would consider changing Hong Kong's special status in customs and other areas. The United States has said in a statement that China is considering imposing a controversial security law.
He said, "Year on year, Chinese spies have been stealing secret information about our various industries". Earlier, many leaders of Trump's Republican Party demanded that Chinese students not be admitted to the university in some streams. The FBI said in February that there were more than 1,000 cases against Chinese spies. Allegedly, they stole technically sensitive information.
Donald Trump added that the Chinese government is undermining Hong Kong's long-standing pride. China expressed outrage on Monday. He said such a decision would be detrimental to both sides.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, "China will retaliate strongly if someone obstructs any Chinese activities." He added that China's internal activities will affect China-US relations in the wake of the US interference.
Earlier, Trump told in a press conference that China had treated Hong Kong unfairly. For a long time, that city was a place of pride in the world. But since the former British colony transferred to China, its place has been in ruins. "This is a tragedy for Hong Kong, China, and the world," Trump said.
Already, the United States and also the rest of the world is blaming China for the coronavirus. Even China has been blamed for increasing the country's infection.
At the same time, the United States has warned of heavy compensation for the spread of the coronavirus from China around the world. At the same time, Trump said, the United States is breaking ties with the World Health Organization. Because the organization has taken a stand for China in the Corona crisis. But Trump has never once criticized Chinese President Xi Jinping. The U.S. president has said more than once before that he has a friendly relationship with Jinping. He acknowledged, however, that was not enough to sustain the relationship with WHO.
