Trial of Hydroxychloroquine will resume, says WHO
The World Health Organization (WHO) has temporarily suspended clinical trials of Hydroxychloroquine because of the safety of corona treatment, but WHO says it will be starting again.
The Data Safety Monitoring Board has verified all the information and said that there was no reason to stop the trial of Hydroxychloroquine internationally so it could be started. This was stated by the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanam, while addressing the press conference at the headquarters on Wednesday.
"After receiving this recommendation from the monitoring board, it has decided to start a solidarity trial as well as a trial of Hydroxychloroquine," he added.
According to the World Health Organization, Clinical trials of Hydroxychloroquine are being abruptly halted on May 25.
The Lancet, one of the world's leading medical journals, said in a study last week that the use of anti-malarial drugs could increase the risk of death in Covid-19 patients. WHO made the decision the week after the information was released, said Tedros, head of the World Health Organization.
Patients were admitted to hospitals in several countries around the world for a "solidarity trial" seeking possible treatment for the coronavirus. As a precautionary measure, the clinical trial was abruptly stopped. In other cases, it is going on, the organization said.
Hydroxychloroquine is commonly used for Malaria but some public representatives including US President Donald Trump. Just last week, he said he was fine with taking Hydroxychloroquine. As a result, many buying pictures have come to the fore at once. Not only that, Brazil's health minister has advised the use of Hydroxychloroquine as well as anti-malarial chloroquine in the case of low corona effects.
The medical journal ‘Lancet’ reported in a study that these two drugs have specific side effects. In particular, heart diseases have been reported. As well as those who have been hospitalized for the coronavirus, none of these medications have helped. The World Health Organization has decided to target more than 96,000 patients in more than 100 hospitals.
Ten countries took part in this trial. The discussion once again revealed that corona infected patients in the United States who had taken the drug had a higher mortality rate than others. It was then decided that the ten countries would now suspend the trial. Also, the trials of other drugs will continue.
Due to Trump's request, India sent 35.82 lakh tablets. Along with 9 metric tons of medicine making materials have also been sent. Hydroxychloroquine, a drug to combat the coronavirus, has been delivered to many countries around the world, not just the United States.
